Taman Ayun Temple: A Beautiful Historical Temple Made By The Kingdom Of Mengwi

As we know, Bali is also known as an island of God, Why? Because in Bali you can see temples everywhere. Balinese people really care and respect about their god, goddess, and their ancestors. That is one of the reasons why in Bali you can see many temples. From all those temples, not all are open to the public. One of the temples that open for the public is Taman Ayun Temple, a temple that famous for beauty and history.

The history for Taman Ayun Temple Bali is started when in the past Bali Island had many kingdoms, one of them was the Kingdom of Mengwi. In 1643 AD, The King of Mengwi, I Gusti Agung Putu Alit, built a temple as the mother temple or paibon, is a kind of temple dedicated to the ancestors, of Mengwi Kingdom. The temple named Taman Ayun Temple, orĀ  Pura Taman Ayun in Indonesia, which means a beautiful temple garden. The first construction of the temple built on the north side of the village and the name of the temple was Genter Park. When the kingdom of Mengwi grew into a big kingdom, The King moved the temple into the place nowadays. Until now, Taman Ayun Temple has been repaired several times but still maintains the real architecture of this place.

Since 2012, Taman Ayun Temple is nominated as one of the UNESCO World Heritage Site because of the beauty and the story of the place. Not only the history of the temple so interesting but the beautiful architecture also gives you a spiritual view. The detail of every statue shows it has its own story. Taman Ayun Temple divided outer court, Jaba, and inner courts. If you want to enter the temple from Jaba, the parking area, you will cross a bridge that connected the inner temple and the parking area.

Before entering the inner place of Taman Ayun Temple Bali from crossing bridge, you will see a couple of Balinese gates called Candi Bentar. In the inner place of Taman Ayun Temple nearby Candi Bentar, you will see Bale Bengong, garden contemplating pavilion, on the left side, and a building that uses for cockfighting pavilion ok the right side. To reach the second inner court what you need is just to follow the stone path then you will be there. What you can see there are Barong and a pavilion for gamelan. For the main court, you are not allowed to enter this court. So, you can see it from outside. You will see the main sanctum, Garuda shrine, and Meru towers with a pool full of lotus. It Looks so Gorgeous!
